We've been wandering the vineyards of Valley this Spring and along the way we've untwind some of the complex relationships in the Barossa and reaffirmed that everyone is tied together like the canes on a long trellis. We interviewed elegant Hazel Mader and found she sang for many years with the famous Liedertafel - another story in this issue. We spoke to Ron Grocke, the longest serving member of the Liedertafel and discovered he was educated at Neu Mecklenberg school, now the striking home of "Sydney refugees" Beau and Kirsty Elmslie. Then we chatted to retired winemaker and Bethany gardener Syd Hueppauff and discovered a few days later that Grant and Helen Burge were his long time employers - and Helen his hairdresser! And that was all in teh space of three days! Happy reading...
